M.B.B. - medium black bag

I had a request for medium sized black purses, so I went on the hunt. There are a lot of great options out there but I tried to chose classic styles that would last. I also tried to chose types that will last for years, not just a season or two.

1. Marc by Marc Jacobs- This medium-sized black bag is reasonably priced and will last through the years b/c of its simple style. I am a huge fan of Marc by March because of the fact that it is still a designer label, for a bit less.

2. Cole Haan- Another simple, classic black tote. This easily carries from office to a night out because of subtle chain detailing.

3. Michael Kors- A great price for a simple, easy to carry black bag.

4. Furla- Its important that if you chose a black bag, go with good leather, like this one so it looks expensive even if it isn't.

5. Tory Burch- Yet another classic, simple, black bag that isn't huge or tiny. A great medium bag that will last ages.

6. Makowsky- A bargain for real leather and metallic detaiing

Update on spring jackets...

FYI. I went to H&M this weekend and they have a host of cute trench/rain coats on display. All really great styles and inexpensive. Just another place to look.... Happy shopping!

Spring showers bring cute jackets!

I am still thinking of the end of winter. Therefore, I am beginning the search for stylish rain/spring coats that will carry everyone from chilly temps to milder ones. These are some options for jackets that will provide some wetness protection, but still allow you to look good.

1. Anthropologie Trench The ruffle detail on this trench makes it super feminine as well as allowing you to wear it with both dresses and pants. Khacki is the classic trench color because it goes with everything!

2. J Crew A spring twist on the boyfriend blazer which we've all grown to love in winter. This style can carry you through fall with jeans, leggings, or dresses.

3. Banana Republic This is definitely a more traditional trench/raincoat. However, hauling yourself to and from work everyday sometimes requires a staple piece that is stylish and functional at the same time. The one thing is to buy a very fitted size and don't be afraid to have it tailored so that it doesn't look like a parachute.

4. Ann Taylor Loft This jacket fits the military trend for spring with the style and color. Also, it will be great to throw on to run errands, day dates, or to work.

5. Club Monaco If only Club Monaco had online shopping! This picture shows how you can take a classic trench coat and pair it with your party dress to look stylish and smart . I love this navy coat as dark blues are really popular for spring as well.

March Madness

My friend was invited to a March wedding...which prompted the question...what do you wear to formal events in the cold? Here are my top choices for fabulous fashion for an event in frigid temps....

1. BCBG KISS (keep it simple stupid) A black dress cocktail dress is timeless. Paired with sheer black hose and amazing closed toed pumped this would be a great dress and allows for the addition of great accessories or any color.

2. Alice and Olivia If you have great shoulders this dress is super flattering and would fantastic with large cuff bracelets and maybe a very sheer patterned black pantyhose.

3. French Connection This is slightly more casual and more party, but still a great shape that works for most body types. You could easily wear this dress with your hair up and large earrings to dress it up a bit.

4. Tracy Reese This dress is perfect if you want something to look polished and sophisticated. Plus, it is a steal for its sale price for a really well-made designer dress.

5. Armani Exchange This dress is a rich, wonderful color for this season and moving into the beginning of spring. Also, a little volume at the hips is always flattering.

Bag Snag before Spring

Now is a great time to start thinking about investing in a great spring/summer handbag. Having a least one staple bag to use during these months is great and spending a little more money will give you a quality piece to last you awhile. The colors I believe to be really crucial for this spring/summer in terms of handbags are dark blues, grey, and camel/tan. Here are a few choices to get you thinking about making a purchase before the nicer weather hits and you have nothing but black and dark brown.

1. Banana Republic This purse is a less expensive option that still provides function and quality. The color is perfect because it blends with all shades of attire. It also has a zip closure, which has become pretty useful from a safety perspective.

2. Marc by Marc Jacobs Marc offers really stylish bags at a lesser price than his Marc Jacobs signature line. This style is perfect because it can be worn by the handles or by the strap. It is nice and slouchy, giving it plenty of room. Grey matches spring colors like pink, green, and purple extremely well too.

3. Tory Burch This bag is definitely for someone that wants something classic, for work or play, and sophisticated. I really like the Navy color for spring and the gold detailing gives it a pop to really make it a standout accessory.

4. Cole Haan The vintage/hippy look is going to be carried over this year with a lot of maxi dresses and vests. This satchel is a great piece to sling across your body with all your skirts and dresses. It also is easy when out and about.

5. Michael Kors This grey bag is super chic and is one of those pieces that if paired with sweats and a ponytail, makes your outfit look expensive.
